National Consultative Committee for Standardization of Zoosanitary Protection (CONAPROZ)
Industrial organisms, private service suppliers, trade people, livestock producers, scientific and technological research centers, federal professional colleges, and technical personnel from SAGARPA, SERMARNAT, PROFECO, SE, and SSA form the CONAPROZ.
CONAPROZ is in charge of approving and performing the procedures for the issuing and amendment of the Mexican Official Norms/Standards in animal health matters, this through the coordination of subcommittees responsible of elaborating bills of these norms. In its performance of functions, the CONAPROZ, counts with Operation and Integration Rules.
Based on the Federal Law on Metrology and Standardization, Mexican Official Norms/Standards shall be reviewed from their date of enforcement every 5 years or before, this being notified within 60 days after the ending of their respective quinquennial period. Therefore, CONAPROZ takes the task of reviewing norms/standards that have been issued, updating them according to scientific and technological advances, and the undertaken zoosanitary campaigns.
The result of this review is notified to the National Commission of Standardization. Not performing this action, the above commission may automatically annul the norm/standard.
